Chrysler vehicles

Hi all, welcome to this month’s Presidents message.

In August we had 2 club runs, for the second month in a row, undertaken by a number of members. We had about 65 people in 42 cars go on our combined club run to Springwood Lions Club for a very nice pub meal. What a fantastic turn out and a site to behold taking over a large part of the carpark. All 4 local clubs (our COCQ, the QCA, the R&S club and the Gold Coast/Tweed Valiant club) participated in what will become a more frequent event.

The following weekend a small group of 6 people in 4 cars made the trip to Rock’s Garage for lunch. It was a beautiful day for a decent length run and we all enjoyed lunch at Rick’s.

In September of course, we have the Chrysler Expo with online advertising for the event reaching fever pitch. We think all the planning is nearing completion and it looks like we have a bumper number of Vendors, Traders, Exhibitors, and vehicles set to make for a very busy day. As always, our volunteers are the backbone of a successful day, many thanks to those who are helping run this premier motoring event.

At this year’s Expo we have the support of the ASMF to do the vehicle judging for our club. There are 25 categories. On a special note, we will also hold the inaugural Mick Maxwell Memorial Award in honour of our great friend and club member Mick Maxwell who passed away recently after a brief illness. This award will be judged by Mick’s family and will be an annual award with a trophy awarded to the winner each year. There is also a perpetual plaque which will held by the Maxwell family to which the winner’s name will be added each year.

This month’s club meeting will be the Annual General Meeting to be held on the 20th of September. We have booked for dinner at:

Dinner from 6pm at the Tingalpa Hotel, 1563 Wynnum Road, Tingalpa.

The AGM starts at 7.30pm in the hotel conference room.

Please advise David Sutton on 0434 887 445 of Greg Holburt on 0413 147 040 to book your seat.

As always, we will select the committee for the next year and I ask each and every member to please consider running for a position. It gives great satisfaction and personal reward for those who run the club to benefit so many people with a common interest. The pay may not be great (or even exist for that matter!) but the work involved is not a great impost on your time and many hands make light work.

We have a club run in October planned for a trip to Tamborine Mountain, stay tuned for the details on that one. Enjoy your rides people, look forward to seeing you all real soon, cheers for now.

Greg Holburt COCQ President.
